Thank god some people don’t need to see so far under the hood.

“ There are only two things wrong with C++: The initial concept and the implementation. -- Bertrand Meyer ”— http://harmful.cat-v.org/software/c++/
“ the clumsiness of people who have to engage their brain at every step is unbearably painful to watch, at least to me, and that's what the novice-friendly software makes people do, because there's no elegance in them, it's just a mass of features to be learned by rote. however, this suits people a hell of a lot better than setting out at age 6 to become a great ballet dancer and achieving their goal 20 years later after every tendon and muscle and joint has been asked to perform just a little bit more than nature ever intended over and over and over again. to most people, this is insanity. but in reality, it's art, and it's the _art_ in what we do that makes us human.— http://ra-ajax.org/who-was-erik-naggum.blog
PS!
The small letters at the beginning of his sentences and the two spaces after the dots are a *conscious* choice. He felt that it was easier to read text which had small letters in the beginning of the sentences, and since it was easier to grep text written with two spaces after each dot he did so... ;)
As I said, controversial but brilliant to the last bit... ”
“— http://trittweiler.blogspot.com/2009/06/erik-naggum-rip.htmlCivility and politeness are extremely useful tools in communication”
with people who are more wrong than right, but of very little use with
people who are vastly more right than wrong.
RIP - Schade, dass ich den verpasst habe... :(
“ If GML was an infant, SGML is the bright youngster far exceeds expectations and made its parents too proud, but XML is the drug-addicted gang member who had committed his first murder before he had sex, which was rape. ”— http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Erik_Naggum
“ I may be biased, but I tend to find a much lower tendency among female programmers to be dishonest about their skills, and thus do not say they know C++ when they are smart enough to realize that that would be a lie for all but perhaps 5 people on this planet. ”— http://www.gungfu.de/zitate/author/Erik_Naggum.html
“— Erik Naggum, in How much use of CLOS? - comp.lang.lispIn many "OO" languages, especially those with dot notation, the methods
”
are owned by the class, and you cannot access a method without compiler
promises that the object it will call that method with is of a class that
owns that method. This is not object-orientation, it is just plain lunacy.

100 Jahre Musikpiraten
Im Online-Archiv der „New York Times“ findet sich die älteste Meldung zum Thema Musikpiraterie. Sie stammt vom 13. Juni 1897, aus der Gründerzeit der Phonoindustrie.Tagesspiegel, 26.07.2009
„Kanadische Piraten“ verschickten Raubpressungen von Schallplatten über die Grenze und verkauften sie zu einem Zehntel des Originalpreises.
Zeitungen druckten Listen der verfügbaren Stücke – eine Art frühe Pirate Bay. 50 Prozent Umsatzeinbußen beklagte die Industrie und forderte, dass die Post die Sendungen filtere.
